Welcome to Blue Ridge Rods
In March 2004, Hank Joiner and David took a short Bonefish trip to Grand Bahama Island. We were greeted by 15-25 knot winds and unseasonably cold weather. We persevered, and with the help of our guide, Cap'n Perry we both managed to land a few bones.
For this trip, we had a four piece 10 wt Accelerator for Permit and a four piece 8 wt Accelerator for Bones. Because of the wind, we used the 10 weight almost exclusively. Without that extra heft in the line for fighting the wind, we would have had a very difficult time casting to the fish. The 10 wt. was truly a trip saver. Keep that in mind next time you plan a Saltwater trip. Enjoy the pics!
In the spring of 2004, we moved from Athens, GA to Hickory, NC. Hickory is in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and is close to world class Smallmouth fishing on the New River. While we didn't catch any big 'uns last year, we did begin learning the river and intend to chase the Smallies hard during the summer of 2005. Enjoy the pictures of this Wild and Scenic River. More to come.
The new Tail Water Series 9' 7 wt. is the perfect rod for this type of fishing. Click here for more information on the these new rods and blanks.
